Southwest Emergency Services (SWES) is a Christian-based nonprofit organization whose mission is to help individuals and families in need by providing perishable and non-perishable food, personal care items, and financial assistance to avoid eviction and electric/gas shutoffs.

Please NO clothing, furniture, cribs, TVs, car seats, or large toys.

Southwest Emergency Services (SWES) is a Christian-based organization in Arbutus, Maryland that provides the following:

Perishable and non-perishable food

Personal care items such as bar soap, shampoo, toothpaste, toothbrushes, feminine products, etc. are welcome.

Financial Assistance providing help with preventing eviction, BGE turn-offs, water turn-offs.*


* To qualify for financial assistance, the individual needs to live in zip 21227 or in 21229 (Baltimore County) on the Arbutus side of Wilkins Ave.  

Alternatively, the individual can belong to one of the member churches that sponsor SWES. See the list here.

Regardless of address, no one requesting food on a one-time basis will be turned away.
